Rohit Sharma third in leading run-scorers' list for ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Jasprit Bumrah tops wicket-takers charts after Afghanistan's win over England

Fresh after smashing an 86-run knock against Pakistan, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is ranked third on the list of leading run-scorers for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition. His compatriot Jasprit Bumrah meanwhile is sitting pretty at the top of the leading wicket-takers’ tally, with eight scalps to his name, after winning the Player of the Match against Babar Azam and Co.

Bumrah picked up two wickets against Pakistan which was enough to propel him to the top of the leading wicket-takers list. He is level on eight wickets with New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, and Matt Henry. Behind the trio, Pakistan’s Hasan Ali has 7 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja rounds off the top five with five wickets to his name.

Kuldeep Yadav too has five scalps he’s level with the likes of, Shakib Al Hasan, Reece Topley, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan make up the top ten.

Coming back to the leading run-scorers list, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan leads the charts having narrowly missed his fifty against India. Rizwan was dismissed for 49 and has 248 runs at the 2023 World Cup edition so far, behind him is Devon Conway with 229 runs under his belt.

Indian skipper Rohit has amassed 217 runs in three matches so far, while Quinton de Kock is fourth with 209 runs.

Sri Lanka’s interim captain Kusal Mendis is fifth with 198 runs after two games, and England’s Dawid Malan is sixth with 186 runs under his name.

New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra is seventh with 183 runs while England veteran Joe Root is eighth having scored 170 runs. Aiden Markram has smashed 162 runs in two matches for South Africa, whereas Virat Kohli rounds off the top ten with 156 runs in three outings.

Afghanistan defeated England by 69 runs on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 15, and the attention shifts to Lucknow next as Australia and Sri Lanka will be gunning for their respective first win as the two sides meet at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, October 16.
