Rheumatoid arthritis, RA, is a chronic inflammatory disorder, which is capable of damaging a wide variety of body systems. The hands, wrists, and knees are most affected by it. When the joint’s lining becomes inflamed, it harms the tissues. This further facilitates unsteadiness, chronic or long-lasting discomfort, and deformity.

Although there are ways to manage the pain caused due to inflammation. Dr Mihir Khatri, an ayurvedic consultant shared some ayurvedic remedies for the same.

Fenugreek seeds: Fenugreek seeds are excellent for people dealing with RA. Have a spoonful of fenugreek seeds powder with water. You can also soak the seeds in a cup of water overnight and chew them in the morning. Drink water along with it for better results.

Ginger tea: Ginger tea aids in managing the pain caused due to RA. The doctor suggested people boil 2.5 gm of ginger powder in 2 cups of water. When it becomes a strain of one cup, add a spoon full of castor oil in it. After it is done, drink it.

Drumstick soup: It is one of the best vegetables for swelling and pain. Cut drumsticks into pieces and boil them in water. Then infuse rock salt and black pepper. Following this, crush and strain or chew directly.

Luke warm water: Drinking lukewarm water all day helps in reducing bloating. It eliminates indigested food waste from the body and makes you feel rejuvenated.

Foods that people with RA should avoid:

  • Tomato
  • Curd
  • Bakery-fermented food
  • Excess salty food
