Aaditya Thackeray, who was at the centre of a row recently for forcefully opening the under-construction Delisle road bridge for the public, is now under fire from the Eknath Shinde camp for delaying the Mumbai Metro project.
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader and member of Maharashtra legislative council Dr Manisha Kayande, while speaking to the media, said: “Aaditya Thackeray is lying about how much he cares about the people. When he was the environment minister, he stopped the work of the metro car-shed. This cost common people in Mumbai Rs 10,000 crore.”
She further alleged: “When he was the guardian minister of Mumbai suburban, dangerous bridges like Karnak bridge at Masjid Bandar, Hancock Bridge at Sandhurst Road, Delisle Road Bridge at Lower Parel, Farere Bridge at Charni Road, Gokhale Bridge Andheri, Bridge connecting Juhu-Versova Road to CD Barfiwala Road at JVPD Junction, Mithi Chowki Junction at Malad Link Road, were demolished by BMC which was directly under his control. It has taken more than five years and the bridges are still not ready, causing inconvenience to people.”
Kayande also said Aaditya Thackeray talks about development but, in reality, he has no vision to take the state ahead.
“The work on the third flyover connecting Fishermen’s Colony to Western Express Highway along the route, as well as several bridges like Ray Road Bridge, Ghatkopar Bridge, Matunga Bridge, Chinchpokli Bridge and Mahalakshmi Bridge are still pending. Aaditya Thackeray’s politics lacks a development core. Though his party was in power in the municipal corporation, he did very little for the development of Mumbai,” she alleged.
Kayande is also of the opinion that the interference of Aaditya Thackeray in BMC blocked the development of the financial capital and gave blacklisted contractors a free hand for “wrecking Mumbai”.
