Koffee With Karan 8: Ranveer Singh Talks About His 3 ‘Back-To-Back Flops’
"I went through a lot, especially after Cirkus in 2022," said Ranveer Singh on the first episode of Koffee With Karan 8.

Koffee With Karan Season 8 is back with a bang, and its first episode, which aired yesterday, didn’t disappoint. While the show was filled with its usual banter and celebrity gossip, what truly stole the spotlight was the authentic and emotional conversations of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. In this episode, Ranveer Singh openly discussed the challenges of facing three consecutive box-office disappointments.

Since his debut in 2010 with Maneesh Sharma’s romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat, the actor has proven his versatility in the industry. Throughout his journey, he has experienced significant success as well as challenging phases in his career.

During his heartfelt conversation with filmmaker Karan Johar on the talk show, Ranveer Singh openly discussed the ordeal of facing three consecutive movie flops. He reflected, “I went through a lot, especially after Cirkus in 2022.”

“Let me take you back to the pandemic. Coming out of the pandemic, we had this lovely film 83 in 2021 which everybody loved. It just released at the wrong time. 48 hours before the release, we lost key markets because they all shut down due to Omicron. Unfortunately, a lovely film had the stigma of being a commercial underperformed,” he further added.

The subsequent year saw the release of his comedy film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which also struggled to achieve significant box office numbers. He explained, “Jayeshbhai Jordaar was again, a lovely, well-intentioned film which ultimately found its audience on streaming which, in the post-pandemic climate, it’s where it belongs.”

Addressing his third movie, Cirkus, which didn’t meet expectations, he remarked, “In Cirkus, I had limited contribution and limited responsibility. So, I can’t really beat myself up over it. Having said that, I had not seen three major flops in a row. So, it was new to me.” Ranveer further shared that he went through a challenging phase for about three months after the film’s release, not feeling his best.

Nevertheless, he explained that he ultimately came to terms with the circumstances surrounding his career and personal life. According to him, he emerged from this ordeal with a profound sense of gratitude and positivity.

“I look at my life and I see blessings and abundance. I’m still here, doing what I love to do for a living. I look at my life and only see blessings,” Ranveer added.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were featured as the guests on the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8. During the show, the couple, who came together on the show for the first time, disclosed details about their dating journey, their marriage and even unveiled their wedding video for the first time.
