The latest episode of the popular chat show Koffee With Karan witnessed Ajay Devgn gracing the couch with filmmaker Rohit Shetty. The episode was quite notable, with both experienced personalities sharing about the struggles they faced as they made their way up the industry. Among other engaging discussions, Ajay Devgn also shared his views on the ongoing debate surrounding nepotism in the film industry.

On the show, Ajay mentioned how he is witnessing the popularity of the word “nepotism” these days and shared “Today you go on social media, read so many things like nepotism etc but people don’t realise that the generations have worked very, very hard to reach till here. It’s not an easy story.” The actor added that it takes years to establish oneself in the industry. “Chahe aap industry ke ho ya na ho, struggle to sabke liye barabar hai, hard work to karna hi padta hai ( You belong to the industry or not, the struggle is similar for everyone, you have to work hard),” mentioned Ajay.

The actor added that even after spending decades in the industry, he still works hard. Ajay shared that his ankles are broken, but the masses do not recognise the efforts. He further gave the example of Rohit Shetty, who started as an assistant in the industry and had no money for food.

During the episode, Ajay Devgn shared that his father Veeru Devgan who was a stunt director in film fled his Punjab home at the age of 13, arrived in Mumbai without a rail ticket, and was imprisoned. He would often go without food and eventually obtained work as a cab driver and was allowed to sleep in the cab itself. He then became a carpenter before becoming involved with a group of gangsters. Ajay shared that senior action director Ravi Khanna spotted his father during the gang’s street fight and gave him a job in films owing to his fighting skills.

Even Rohit Shetty revealed his humble beginnings when his father died and his family faced financial issues. He eventually started his career at the age of 16 to establish his name as a blockbuster director.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn was last seen in Bholaa. The actor will soon reprise his role as Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s Singham 3. Apart from that, he has Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Dum Kahan Tha.
