In 2022, James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, surprised fans with ambitious plans to overhaul the DC universe. Teaming up with Peter Safran, the filmmaker unveiled a lineup of ten movies and exclusive television shows for Max, set to debut in the coming months. While official casting announcements were made, Gunn’s engaging social media comments consistently caught attention and fuelled excitement among fans. However, updates on future projects appeared to abruptly halt, leaving followers eagerly awaiting more news. Recently, when a thread user sought further information, James, known for his humour, delivered the simplest and most amusing response to the inquiring social media user.
James responded to a fan’s inquiry about the possibility of getting a glimpse of the Superman suit from the upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. However, Gunn cleverly declined to disclose any information before the filming started. His response, left one fan feeling a bit disheartened, prompting them to plead with the filmmaker for news and asked, “Bro drop some news we out here starving.” To this, Gunn responded with a touch of humour and advised the fan to “Celebrate the holidays.”
Soon after James Gunn announced Superman: Legacy, there was considerable speculation surfacing around about Gunn’s approach to the Superman suit in the upcoming film. Fans have mixed opinions, as some hope to see the return of the classic design with trunks and the iconic yellow S on the cape, while others prefer a more modern update without the trunks.
According to previous reports, the upcoming movie will star actors such as David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. This star-studded cast will also feature Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher and Maria Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.
Earlier, talking about the movie, as per Comic Book, Peter Safran shared, “It’s not an origin story. It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice and the American way. He has kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned.”
Apart from Superman: Legacy, James Gunn and Peter Safran had also shared their plans for more DC movies like The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing and The Authority. The line-up also includes television shows such as Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, Paradise Lost and an animated Creature Commandos series.
