After an incredible streak at the ICC World Cup 2023, team India lost the final match against Australia, as they chased down a score of 240 in 43 overs at Narendra Modi stadium, leaving billions heartbroken. Among them was also the Bollywood star Athiya Shetty, wife of KL Rahul, who has been a pillar for her husband throughout the tournament. The actress along with Anushka Shetty had turned up to cheer for the men in blue. Pictures and videos of Athiya feeling disheartened are doing the rounds of the internet.
In the pictures, Athiya, with her hand on her chin, looked tense and heartbroken. Beside her, actress Anushka Shetty also seemed dejected with the outcome of the game that started off well for Team India. Netizens resonated with the viral pictures as they shared it all over the social media.
India’s wicket-keeping batter KL Rahul clinched his 17th ODI half-century against Australia in the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Entering the game at 81/3 in the 11th over, Rahul played a resilient innings, scoring a fifty in 86 deliveries to maintain India’s pursuit of a third World Cup title.
Athiya took to Instagram Stories on Monday and wrote a sweet note for the team. Sharing a photo of the team, she wrote, “This team… the best team”
Athiya has always been vocal about her support for KL Rahul. In September, KL Rahul made a stellar comeback to international cricket as the wicketkeeper batter smashed a half-century in 60 balls against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash in September 11. As the country celebrated his achievement, Athiya was on cloud 9. “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise… You are everything, I love you. #1,” she had written.
Athiya and KL Rahul tied the knot on January 23 at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala.
