2024 has been one of the best years for Malayalam cinema, having given the industry some of the biggest releases of the year, in terms of both content and box-office collection. One of those incredible releases includes Aavesham, a Fahadh Faasil-starrer, that became a sensation soon after its release.

Dubbed as an action-comedy, Aavesham is listed among the most successful Indian films of the year. After its OTT debut, the film naturally gained even more acclaim, garnering praises for the performances of the actors and the music. The film was released in Hindi on Disney Plus Hotstar and is also available on Amazon Prime Video.

The film follows the life of three students named Aju, Bibi and Shanthan, who arrive in Bangalore to pursue an engineering degree. The three initially plan to spend their time in fun and games, making a clan of juniors for protection from the bullying of seniors. However, after a major fight between the two groups, the three end up being the main targets. So, to get revenge on the seniors they accidentally meet a man named Ranga, who turns out to be a big-shot gangster. How Ranga’s entry into the lives of Aju, Bibi and Shanthan affects them and their studies are the crux of the plot. The film also spawned the viral hit Illuminati, sung by Dabzee and penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.

The film was directed by Jithu Madhavan, who is also credited as its writer. The cast includes Fahadh Faasil, Hipzster, Mithun Jai Shankar, Roshan Shanavas, Sajin Gopu and many others. It is produced by Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim and Anwar Rasheed, under the banners of Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Anwar Rasheed Entertainments. The music is composed by Sushin Shyam. The cinematographer is Sameer Thahir and Vivek Harshan is the editor. Aavesham was made under a budget of Rs 30 crore and collected over Rs 154 crore at the box office, according to the reports.
