Amitabh Bachchan is one of the icons of Hindi cinema and has shown his acting prowess in Black, Pink, Baghban, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, to name a few. The sequel to his film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and others, will hit the cinemas on April 10. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is counted as one of the blockbuster hits in Amitabh’s illustrious career. This film was also instrumental in giving Amitabh a successful career post his comeback to Indian cinema.
After the release of the critically acclaimed epic Khuda Gawah in 1992, Amitabh did not act in any big film except for the Insaniyat (1994), which also tanked at the box office. His other films Major Saab (1998) and Mrityudaata (1997) also flopped at the box office. It was finally David Dhawan’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which became a hit and changed Amitabh’s fortunes. This film was produced on a budget of Rs 12 crores and emerged as a major commercial success. It garnered Rs 35.21 crore at the box office. Post this film, Amitabh started getting roles as a supporting actor.
Raveena Tandon, Ramya Krishnan, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, and others acted in this film. It is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar. Rumi Jaffery was associated as a writer with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Madhuri Dixit had a special appearance in this film. She danced to the popular track Mere Pyar Ka Ras Zara Chakhna – Makhna. Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, and Amit Kumar rendered their vocals to this song. Viju Shah composed the music and Sameer penned the lyrics.
Besides this song, the title track of the film also became a huge hit with the masses. Udit Narayan and Sudesh Bhosle sang this number composed by Viju Shah. Sameer penned the lyrics of this song.
After the success of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Amitabh bagged key roles in the films Sooryavansham, Mohabbatein, and others.
Amitabh is now looking forward to other projects like Section 84, The Umesh Chronicles, Hasmukh Pighal Gaya, and others.
