'Want To Live In Freedom': South Comedian Kovai Sarala On Not Getting Married

Kovai Sarla is one of the top Indian actresses, noted for playing comedy roles in Telugu and Tamil films. She has won numerous awards for her performances, starring in Sathi Leelavathi, Poovellam Un Vasam and Uliyin Osai. The actress has won the Nandi Award and the Vijay Award for being the best comedian in the movie Kanchana. The 62-year-old actress, who shared screens with comic superstars like Vadivelu, Goundamani, Senthil, Vivek and Brahmanandam, recently opened up about why she never married.

Kovai Sarala is the eldest daughter in a family of four younger sisters. Being the eldest, the actress took the responsibility of her siblings at an early age. She successfully conducted the marriage of her younger sisters and donned the responsibility of her parents and house. The entertainment industry has forever been buzzing about the unmarried status of these famous comedians. According to media reports, the actress once said that she had no complaints about not getting married. “The life of my sisters is good, that is enough for this life," said Kovai Sarala to Zee News. Now, in a recent interaction with the comedian Ali Basha, the actress explained the reason for not indulging in the traditional custom of marriage. Kovai Sarala appeared as a guest on the show, Alitho Saradaga, hosted by Ali Basha. Talking about marriage, the actress said that she is not interested in marriage as she wants to live her life with freedom.

“We came to earth alone. After that, all the bonds came. Even those who have many children will lead a lonely life in the last few days. We should never expect anyone to see us. We have to move forward with courage." said Kovai Sarala. She stresses the importance of independence in life. She said that relations such as marriage seem unnecessary to her and wants to live independently. The actress doesn’t like to become dependent on any person. Hence, she decided to not get married.

The actress has been away from the Telugu film industry for a long time now. She recently made a comeback with the Tamil-Telugu film Aranmanai 4. Directed by Sundar C, the film stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles.
