'The Jungle Book' tweet review: A visual spectacle, Jon Favreau's film is evocative and impactful

If you grew up in the nineties you just can’t forget the incredible time you spent watching Doordarshan on Sunday mornings to empathise and enjoy the scary encounters that the adorable Mowgli had with Shere Khan. ‘The Jungle Book’, which is still remembered as the popular animation series that won many hearts with its gripping narrative, releases today in India, a week before its official releases in the US.

The film, which promises to be an advanced version of the 1967 animated film, brings back the story of Rudyard Kipling's 1894 timeless classic back on 70 MM.

The story has been directed by Jon Favreau, who has garnered huge appreciation for 'Iron Man' and 'Chef' and stars 12-year-old Indian-American Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

Tracking Mowgli's journey of self-discovery when he is forced to leave his home in the forest, 'The Jungle Book' has been supported by voiceovers of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong'o, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken.

Will the film be as impactful as the animation series we watched about two decades back on television sets? Will adults enjoy watching the film as much as the kids? Divya Pal is inside the theater to live tweet the experience.
