After the wait of seven years, the sequel to the animated film Sausage Party is here. The sequel, dubbed Sausage Party: Foodtopia, has been released on OTT. Instead of a movie, the sequel has been made into an eight part adult animation series. Just like the first film, the web series revolves around anthropomorphic food items that come together to escape human captivity.
The web series is directed by Conrad Vernon and created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and once again Conrad Vernon. The Sausage Party franchise is one of the rare animated films and series that are released with an R rating owing to its heavy sexual and violent content.

Plot
The miniseries follows the five main characters of the first film. These primary characters are a sausage named Frank, a deformed sausage Barry, a hot dog bun named Brenda, a bagel called Sammy, and a lavash named Kareem. The food items launch “Operation Dessert Storm” against humans and aim to form a self-sufficient food system. However, their plans take a hit when a flood impacts the world around them. In need of a new strategy, the food items have to collaborate with humans to achieve their goal. Despite its comedic nature, the series touches upon serious issues like overreach of power, overconsumption, and wealth inequality.
Cast
The series has an ensemble cast of voice over artists, many of whom are reprising their roles from the 2016 film. Seth Rogen voices Frank, Kristen Wiig is Brenda, Michael Cera is Barry, Edward Norton voices Sammy and David Krumholtz plays Kareem.
Sam Richardson voices over Julius, an orange, while Scott “Diggs” Underwood voices over Gum, a wad of chewed gum. Additionally, Natasha Rothwell, Grey DeLisle and Yassir Lestee take part in undisclosed roles.
Release Date
Sausage Party: Foodtopia premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 10 in the USA. It was made available in India, a few hours later on July 11 at 5 am. All eight episodes were released at the same time, therefore making it perfect for binge-watching the whole series.

The adult animated miniseries is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video. One needs to get a subscription for the OTT platform to watch the series.
