The film, produced by Sun Pictures, also marks Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Tamil debut.

The second poster for megastar Rajinikanth's Petta has been released. With over 22,000 likes, the poster has been successful at grabbing everyone's attention. This was quite evident from the fact that within minutes hashtag #PettaPoster began to trend. Ever since director Karthik Subbaraj announced the film with the Thalaiva, there has been a huge buzz about the project. The film, produced by Sun Pictures, also marks Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Tamil debut.

The new character poster reveals the first look of the film's leading lady Trisha Krishnan, who plays Rajinikanth's love interest, named Saro, in the film. In the poster, we see Trisha and Rajinikanth romance on a swing.

Petta also features Simran, Sasikumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Malayalam actor Manikandan R Achari and Bobby Simha. Rajinikanth is rumoured to be playing an ageing gangster in the film. One of the posters that were unveiled a couple of months ago, showed Rajinikanth in a younger avatar with handlebar moustache and all-black hair.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film. Rajinikanth is collaborating with Subbaraj for the first time.
