Govinda was one of the biggest Bollywood stars of his time. Today, we will talk about one of his sensational statements that created a massive stir. In the year 2019, Govinda claimed that he was offered a role in the Hollywood film Avatar, directed by James Cameron. In an episode of India TV’s Aap Ki Adalat, the actor claimed that he was the one who suggested the title of the film. He also mentioned that he rejected the film. Following this, Govinda was heavily mocked with social media memes and posts. When he found out that he was being mocked on social media for his statement, he decided to give a sharp response to the trolls. In an old interview, Govinda said, “I am not so active on social media, but my daughter keeps telling me about these trolls. People think that an actor like me cannot reject James Cameron’s film. I have no objection to that as I understand their thought process. Everyone has the right to give their opinion and I respect them. But saying that how could Govinda get this offer is wrong.” The old clip of Govinda’s claim has once again gone viral since last month. This time too, he has been facing immense trolling for this statement.
When Govinda was asked in the old interview about how James Cameron knew about him, he replied, “I was a superstar at that time. He must have seen my films, but I can’t say for sure where he got my name. There was a Sadarji who was close to Dev Anand ji. He was one of the financiers of the film and he knew me well.”
Govinda explained that he met James in London, where the director narrated the story of Avatar. While talking to them, he suggested the title. Govinda said, “The word Avatar slipped out of my mouth and he immediately liked the title. However, I rejected the film. Sardarji also complained to Dev Anand Sahab telling him that Govinda had rejected a big Hollywood film, despite being offered a hefty fee for it.”
