Lisa Marie 'Cried' Listening To Dad Elvis Presley's Music After His Death
Riley Keough, granddaughter of Elvis Presley, revealed that her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, struggled to cope with the loss of her father. She often cried in private, finding it challenging to process his death.

Elvis Presley, the iconic singer, passed away in 1977 at the age of 42, leaving fans worldwide devastated. His daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was just a child when her father died, and she faced immense challenges in coping with the loss over the years. This poignant insight was shared by Lisa’s daughter, Riley Keough, during the Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Marie, and Riley. The Logan Lucky star revealed that her mother struggled to process her father’s death, often shedding tears in private, making it a deeply personal and emotional journey for her.

According to Riley, Lisa listened to her father’s music alone, which made her emotional. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey, Riley recalled moments when she found Lisa sitting on the floor and crying. The actress said, “Her grief was very like, I don’t think she knew how to process it and it was a very private thing for her. She would listen to his music alone, if she was drunk and cry. I would walk into her room and she had like a like speakers and she would kind of be sitting on the floor crying."

In September, Riley Keough revealed to People that she listened to tapes recorded by her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, to help complete the memoir titled From Here to the Great Unknown, which is set to release on October 8. Riley explained that being Elvis Presley’s daughter subjected Lisa to intense public scrutiny and criticism throughout her life. In writing the memoir, Riley aimed to delve deeper than the headlines and portray the real essence of her mother, who navigated a life filled with both joy and sorrow. The memoir will also shed light on Lisa’s enduring love for Elvis, her struggles following his death, her relationships, the loss of her son Benjamin in 2020, and the joy she found in becoming a grandmother.

Meanwhile, the complete episode of Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Marie, and Riley will be released on October 8, on the day of the memoir’s launch. In the episode, Oprah Winfrey talks to Riley about the memoir that Lisa dedicated many hours to writing before she passed away unexpectedly in 2023 at the age of 54. The episode will also feature exclusive family photos and home videos that have never been shown before.
