Karan Johar-backed Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives features the lives of Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Panday, Seema Sajdeh and Neelam Kothari as they navigate their friendships, businesses and married lives. In a recent chat, Karan Johar revealed that the idea to make a show about the four friends came to him on a flight they took together to attend a funeral.
Speaking to Sucharita Tyagi, Karan said, “Maheep Kapoor was too blingy and she was trying to justify, the other was too sober. I was like, ‘Someone has passed away, we are going to their funeral, and you are discussing your outfits?! Does anyone care!’” Karan said that he was then convinced that he needed to make a show about these women.
The show’s third season will soon premiere on Netflix with some interesting additions to the cast. Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni is finally making her acting debut with the Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
Last year, a source told Mid-Day that Riddhima would be joined by Shalini Passi and Kalyani Saha Chawla. “Fabulous Lives is travelling from Mumbai to Delhi. The creative team realised that they needed to introduce new faces into the mix. All three are well-known celebrities based in Delhi, but connected to Bollywood in one way or the other,” the source added.
The report added that the additions to the cast were made after producer Karan Johar took note of the criticism the first two seasons received and “decided to feature three powerful women entrepreneurs” to the mix.
Notably, the reality show was first aired on Netflix in the year 2020 and the Season 1 got immense popularity among fans. The first season also featured Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Shanaya Kapoor, and others in guest appearances. Bankrolled by Karan Johar, the show gives an insight into how the four Bollywood wives manage lives at home and work and their equations with each other.
Meanwhile, Karan is gearing up for the release of Kill in India. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, Karan Johar’s production venture, Kill, has finally got a release date in India. The gory, action-entertainer will be released in Indian theatres on July 5 this year. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Lakshya and features television’s charmer Raghav Juyal as the antagonist.
