Sharad Kelkar is one of the celebrated artists in Indian cinema. He has several hits to his acting credit including Sangharsh Yatra, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, and others. His portrayal of the most revered Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj gained accolades from the audience. On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti or Shivaji Jayanti, he talked about in a conversation with Hindustan Times.

Sharad said that he was stunned when asked to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by director Om Raut in the film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Still, he decided to audition for that role and went ahead with its look test. Sharad reminisced that everyone was spellbound when he came on the audition set dressed in the attire of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. According to him, it was one of the glorious opportunities for a Maratha actor to play the impactful role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Sharad had talked about the experience of playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in an interaction with the Mid-Day portal as well. She said,” Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been a source of inspiration for me since my childhood. His life and legacy have always fascinated me, and I have always felt a deep sense of pride in being associated with such a great historical figure. Playing the role of Shivaji Maharaj in `Tanhaji` was a dream come true for me, and it was an honour to bring his story to life on the big screen.”

As of now, Sharad has emerged as one of the prominent figures in the entertainment industry. He continues to captivate the audiences with his acting prowess, promising an engaging cinematic experience. He is looking forward to the film Sri directed by Tushar Hiranandani. Rajkummar Rao will play the lead role of Srikanth Bolla in this movie. Alaya F, Jyotika, and others comprise the ensemble cast of this film backed by Chalk & Cheese Films and T-Series Films.
