Filmmaker Rishab Shetty Unveils Trailer Of Kannada Film Shivamma
According to Rishab Shetty, instead of pan-India films done on a big scale, films like Shivamma can entertain the audience.

The Kannada film Shivamma produced by Rishab Shetty Films is all set to hit the big screens on June 14. Jaishankar Aryar has written and directed this film. Producer Rishab Shetty announced Shivamma’s release date and unveiled the film’s trailer in the presence of the team and director Jaishankar Aryar.

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Rishab said, “I would like to credit director Jaishankar Aryar, whom I spotted at the short film festival, where I went as a jury member. I was attracted to his first short film, which won an award and decided to collaborate with him. He came up to me with Shivamma with the thought of putting together non-actors, and that’s how the film happened.”

As per the 40-year-old producer, Shivamma is a commercial film, and it’s special to introduce a debutante who plays the protagonist in their project. According to the producer, instead of pan-India films done on a big scale, films like Shivamma can entertain the audience. Rishab said that in addition to being an entertainer, this film will also be message-oriented. The 40-year-old producer felt confident about the audience response regarding Shivamma, which received a good response at the Bengaluru International Film Festival. Rishab concluded that Shivamma, distributed by KRG Studios, will be released in a minimum number of theatres in Bengaluru and across North Karnataka as well.

Shivamma narrates the life of a poor middle-aged woman who works as a sales representative for an energy drink company. It stars Sharanamma Chetti and Chennamma Abbegere in the lead roles. This film made India proud at the 2022 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) by winning the New Currents Award. It shared the title with the Korean film A Wild Roomer, at BIFF.

Jaishankar Aryar makes his directorial debut in the Kannada film industry with Shivamma. As per reports, a total of 10 movies were in the running under the category of News Currents Award. The 2022 Busan International Film Festival featured 242 films from 71 countries, including 88 world premieres. The 27th edition of this festival was held from October 5 to October 14, 2022.
