Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun have been officially confirmed to take on lead roles in the upcoming JTBC K-drama, Good Boy. The drama is set to air in the second half of 2024. The plot of this comedy-action series revolves around a group of former gold medalists who, faced with financial struggles, career challenges, and injuries, transition into the role of police officers to combat crime. Instead of wearing their medals, they proudly display police officer IDs around their necks as they get on to this new journey of dealing with criminals and combating violent crimes.
While the exact release date for Good Boy is yet to be announced, the casting of Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun has already generated considerable excitement among their fans. The audience eagerly anticipates the chemistry between the two lead actors and the engaging storyline of the drama. The series will be directed by Shim Na-Yeon, renowned for her previous work on The Good Bad Mother, Beyond the Evil, and Moment of Eighteen, with Lee Dae-Il serving as the writer.

Park Bo-gum takes on the role of Yoon Dong-Joo, a former Olympic gold medalist, who, due to circumstances, becomes a police officer in the Special Violent Crime Unit through a special employment program for Olympic recruits. With his innate fighting abilities, Dong-Joo proves himself in the special force, overcoming setbacks and rediscovering his strengths while battling criminals.
On the other hand, Kim So-hyun portrays Ji Han-Na, an Olympic gold medalist in shooting known as the shooting goddess. Despite her public popularity for her beauty, unforeseen events lead her to abandon shooting and take on a career as a police officer. While appearing calm, Han-Na is depicted as straightforward and serious when it comes to both work and matters of the heart.
The production team, in a statement to a local news outlet, shared insights into Good Boy, describing it as a refreshing narrative.
“Good Boy is a pleasant story about people who were Olympic heroes leaving the ground where there were rules and fighting against violent crimes that are rife with unscrupulousness and foul play. We stand up against injustice with our own stories,” the production team told Naver Entertainment.
They encouraged viewers to look forward to the authentic portrayal of heroes facing off against violence, each with their unique backstories, by actors Park Bo-gum and Kim So-Hyun.
