The BTS Army has been painting South Korea in the colour purple. After all, today, December 30 marks the birthday of BTS member V. Billboards and public spaces are adorned with birthday wishes and tributes to the vocalist as part of his “birthday project”. Vibrant billboards showcasing V’s posters are lighting up major cities in South Korea. Cafes have been preparing delicious V-themed treats and beverages to serve the customers. Additionally, extravagant flash mobs and dance covers featuring his coordinated routines to his Layover hits are being planned by Japanese admirers. Amidst this, South Korean coffee chain Compose Coffee has also decorated its storefronts across the country with V’s promotional photos.

According to Allkpop, Compose Coffee stated in a press note, “We are delighted to collaborate with a global artist who is loved worldwide regardless of gender or age. Through synergy with the ‘21st-century pop icon’ BTS V, Compose Coffee anticipates even greater growth next year. This collaboration marks a significant step forward.” These posters are marked with the witty tagline, “Everyone is a composer” and the coffee chain’s brand name. Compose Coffee unveiled V as its new brand ambassador just last week. This announcement came soon after the singer-dancer enlisted in the army for mandatory service on December 11, 2023.

BTS fans are thrilled by the coffee chain’s timely launch of the new campaign. A fan shared a screen recording of a map showing Compose Coffee stores around South Korea and wrote, “There are more than 2,400 Compose coffee franchises across the country. This is a map of stores in Seoul and just a few cities around it. In Seoul, you can see Taehyung’s picture at composite stores every few blocks.”

BTS lovers in the United States are exceeding expectations. Famous sites like the Hollywood sign and the Times Square screen have been illuminated in purple hues. A flurry of birthday wishes, fan art, and heartfelt remembrances have been circulating on social media too. Meanwhile, six cafe events are being held in South Korea and Japan by NUNA V — the most popular Korean fansite on Twitter. Fans will be provided a venue to meet and celebrate their mutual admiration for V at the events. One distinctive design at the Myeong-dong cafe was a big bear, and the Yeontan balloon doll at the entrance.

All the BTS members who are serving in the military are expected to reunite in 2025.
