Wrong dead body sent to grieving father
A UP based-man was in a state of shock when he realised he had received a woman 's body of instead of his son's.

Lucknow: A grieving father in Uttar Pradesh was in a state of shock when he received a body of a foreign woman instead of his son's - a victim of the July 21 terror attack in Tehran.

Like any bereaved father, Narsingh Tiwari was anxiously awaiting for the body of his 24-year-old son Subodh Kumar Tiwari, but he discovered a foreign woman's body in the coffin delivered to him by the Indian authorities.

Tiwari received the sealed coffin in New Delhi Aug 7 but the coffin was opened only Aug 10, when the family reached their native village Takenpur in Deoria district to perform the last rites.

Though the coffin displayed Subodh's name, the body inside was of a white woman.

The family members rushed back to the Deoria district magistrate, who promptly made arrangements for the body to be sent back to the union home ministry in New Delhi.

An official spokesman in Lucknow confirmed knowledge about the bizarre incident but could not provide the reason for the mix-up.

"We are not in a position to say how such a major blunder could have occurred. We have apprised Delhi about it and officials there should be able to sort it out with their Iran counterparts."

What's your reaction?
