Woman found battered to death in Delhi

A 40-year-old woman was battered to death with a stone near a night shelter, police said on Saturday.

Sukhmati's body, in the pool of blood, was spotted by a passerby near the Uttam Nagar metro station in west Delhi on Saturday morning. Deep injury marks were found on her head and other body parts.

Police said she was staying at a night shelter near the metro station with her husband, Jageshwar, and 20-year-old son. She was missing from Friday night.

"It seem she was also sexually assaulted before she was attacked with a stone. Her clothes were disordered," said a police officer.
