Will take rape victim abroad if needed: Dikshit
The woman is in stable condition but with there is a danger of infection setting in, her doctors have said.

New Delhi: The 23-year-old gang-rape victim may be taken abroad for medical treatment if needed, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Thursday. "Her condition is very critical, she has a lot of injuries but if there is a need to take her abroad to treat her and save her life, we will not hesitate," Dikshit said.

The woman, gang-raped and savaged four days ago, was conscious and in stable condition but there was danger of infection setting in, said doctors treating her at Safdarjung Hospital. The victim, who was interning as a physiotherapist at a hospital in Delhi, had her gangrenous intestines removed in a two-hour surgery Wednesday.

Dikshit government has come under attack after the incident with students, activists and citizens alike protesting against flimsy security facilities provided to women in the national capital.

The victim was brutally assaulted in a moving bus by half-a-dozen men after she boarded it in South Delhi Sunday night. Her male friend who tried to save her was also beaten by the rapists. Both were dumped by the roadside after some 40 minutes. Police have arrested four of the six suspects.
