New Delhi: The Daundia Kheda fort of Raja Ram Bux Singh in Unnao and sadhu Shobhan Sarkar have been hogging the limelight for nearly 10 days ever since Sarkar claimed that 1,000 tonnes of gold was lying buried in the fort. The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) which is excavating at the fort has claimed that it started its work after getting a favourable Geological Survey of India (GSI) report which said that there was apossibility fo metal being present under the ground and not on Shobhan Sarkar's dreams.
Daundia Kheda is a small village in Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh but has now become world famous thanks to Shobhan Sarkar who claimed that Raja Ram Bux Singh came in his dreams and told him about the treasure. But Shobhan Sarkar has so far avoided the media and instead his disciple Om Ji Maharaj has been speaking on his behalf.
Shobhan is a village in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh where the sadhu has his ashram. He is called Sarkar by his followers. But no one knows his real name.
One of the names doing the rounds is Paramhans Swami Viraktanand ji Maharaj while in letters written to the local authorites about the treasure the name of Shobhan ashram's saint is mentioned as Bhaskaranand Dev.
The treasure hunt began after he told about his dream to Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das who had visited his ashram a few days ago. The ASI and GSI then decided to survey the fort.
Shobhan Sarkar's followers claim that he is not publicity hungry and does not come before the media. He does not like to be photographed and has asked his followers not to worship him. Interestingly, his guru was also called Sarkar. Shobhan Sarkar has asked his followers to worship his master like god.
Shobhan Sarkar is a disciple of Swami Raghunandan Das who 90 years ago laid the founded Shivli Ashram near Kanpur.
