He returns at a time when three of his closest aides - TS Darbari, Sanjay Mohindroo and M Jayachandran - are behind bars for their alleged involvement in corrupt deals during the Queen's Baton relay in London last year.
CNN-IBN had reported earlier that one of these aides, TS Darbari, has squarely blamed Kalmadi for all the financial decisions that were taken by the OC.
The focus now will be on whether Kalmadi himself will be questioned by the ED or the IT authorities, who are looking into the case.
