New Delhi: Several important negotiations between India and the US are likely to be inked during President Barack Obama's visit to the country. The global entry programme, which will expedite the entry of Indian travellers to the US and give a boost to commerce between the two countries, is among one of the negotiations that are likely to be taken up.

Another key agreement which is expected to be signed is counter terror co-operation in dealing with the improvised explosive devices. The pact will be helpful for India in Naxal-hit areas and along the Line of Control.

US infrastructure collaboration platform is likely to facilitate US industry participation in infrastructure projects in India. India-US investment initiative will help bring long term investments by American investors to India. The initiative has been launched and was also discussed when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited New York in 2014.

Another highlight area is American support for building smart cities out of Allahabad, Ajmer and Visakhapatnam. US is keen on being a knowledge partner with the Indian Navy, providing technical support to strengthen India's navy fleet.

The meet is also likely to focus on the education sector. The US is to send professors for short duration courses in Indian universities.
