UP Police Recruitment Exam: STF Makes First Arrest In Paper Leak Case
UP Police Recruitment Exam Cancelled: This comes a day after the BJP government in UP announced on Saturday that exam will be cancelled after paper leak reports surfaced

Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested one person in connection with the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Paper Leak case. The accused, identified as Neeraj Yadav, a resident of UP’s Ballia has been arrested for allegedly sending the answer key of the question paper to the candidates on WhatsApp.

Now, the police are searching for another accused, a resident of Mathura, who provided Neeraj with the answer key, according to a report by NDTV India.

This comes a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday announced that the UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination-2023 will be cancelled after paper leak reports surfaced. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government also gave instructions to conduct a re-examination within six months and tasked the STF to investigate the paper leak allegations.

“There can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations. Those who play with the hard work of the youth will not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest action is certain to be taken against such unruly elements,” CM Adityanath said in a post on X.

The announcement came after six days of protests by civil service aspirants against the alleged leaking of question papers. Lucknow police on Friday also registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the paper leak case.

Hundreds of candidates who had appeared for the exam had been protesting across the state demanding a reexamination. The aspirants claimed the sanctity of the examination was compromised after a question paper went viral on social media hours before the paper started.
