Azamgarh: Uttar Pradesh DGP Devraj Nagar on Wednesday issued directions to concerned officials to ensure law and order during the coming festival season in the state.
At a meeting at the circuit house in Azamgarh, he asked the officials to take all necessary steps for maintenance of peace during the festival season. The DGP said extra police force would be made available to sensitive Mau district and asked the officials to identify trouble-makers and keep a close watch on them.
Later, the DGP told reporters anyone destroying peace during the festivals would be dealt with sternly. All out efforts would be made to maintain law and order in the state, he said adding officials were told to take firm steps in dealing with even a minor issue. The DGP said an alert was already in force in the state to deal with any terror activity.
