THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thurthummoola LP School and the Cherukode Government LP School have got new libraries, thanks to an initiative of medical equipment manufacturing firm Terumo Penpol. Terumo Penpol managing director C Balagopal inaugurated the school libraries on August 3 at a function presided over by Vilappil panchayat president Shobhana Kumari. Balagopal, who was very keen to set up the library, said: ‘’Creating the reading habit in the kids is the best way to ensure they will be readers when they grow up and it will help them to be successful in life as well. Libraries expose children to the reading habit very early in their life. The more the kids get an exposure to quality language, the better will be his or her ability to become a good reader.’’ Thuruvananthapuram-based Terumo Penpol donated books worth ` 10,000 to these schools. Last year, the company also installed libraries at Vilappil UP School and the Peyad LP School. The company is also planning to organise a quiz competition this academic year for the students of four government LP schools in Vilappil panchayat to test their knowledge level.
