Two drown as boat capsizes in Bagmati river

A woman and a minor girl drowned when a boat, on which they were travelling, capsized in Bagmati river in Bihar's Samastipur district, police said.

"The incident occurred when the boat carrying 30 people on way to a fair Mananpur from Bikrampatti village capsized midstream," District Magistrate M Ramachandrudu said.

Twenty-eight people swam to safety but two identified as Rama Devi (55) and Puja Kumari(5) drowned, he said, adding that the bodies were recovered and sent for post mortem.
