BHUBANESWAR: Embarrassment for the Naveen Patnaik Government over allotment of houses under discretionary quota continued with two sets of complaints filed with the local police on Thursday. While in one complaint, Rural Development and Law Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh was named, the other demanded that property of two other ministers - Prafulla Chandra Ghadei and Surya Narayan Patro - be inquired since they too have multiple number of plots. The Chief Minister had on Wednesday said that the issue of allotment of houses under discretionary quota will be examined by the Government. Arukh was allotted two houses by BDA. The first one was allotted at Kalinga Vihar in the name of his wife Jayalaxmi Arukh in 2007, while the second in his name at Pokhariput in 2009. A first-time Minister, Arukh had got the first house issued in the name of his wife when K V Singhdeo was the Urban Development Minister (UD) whereas the second house was allotted during the tenure of Badri Narayan Patra as UD.The first complaint filed by Bhabani Parija, on behalf of Save Orissa, alleged that in February last, the Chief Minister made a statement in the Assembly and disclosed Arukh possessing the two houses under BDA which meant he and Patra were both aware of the multiple allotments. Besides, while allotting the house in 2009, Patra never inquired if Arukh had possessed a  house. Along with Arukh, action should be taken against Naveen and Patra, the complainant said. The second complaint lodged on Thursday, by Priyadarshan Patnaik of Sachetana Nagaraika Manch, Puri, accused two senior ministers of the BJD Government of illegally possessing plots. The complainant alleged that Finance Minister Ghadei and Revenue Minister Patro have got multiple number of plots but have not disclosed the same which need to be investigated. The complainants said, there is evidence to support the claims in the complaints and will be presented when investigation is made. Both the complaints were lodged with the Capital Police Station. Police said, it would look into the complaints and proceed accordingly. Arukh has already offered to surrender his second house after the matter came to light.
