TIRUMALA: The twin dams project of Pasupudhara and Kumaradhara, taken up by the TTD for catering to drinking water needs of the hill shrine are ready for inauguration on Sept 29, TTD join EO KS Srinivasa Raju said.
Speaking to Express, he said some pipeline works were pending for clearance from the forest department. "This 2km stretch is meant for direct pipeline from the dams to the Tirumala township. However, pipeline works connecting the twin dams and the Papavinsanam reservoir have been completed and the chief minister is going to inaugurate the completed works. In case, there is water shortage, water can be drawn from the twin dams to Papavinasanam. In view of depleted water levels in other dams, it is essential the twin dams be opened, so they can address the water needs of Tirumala," Srinivasa Raju said.
