New Delhi: Hollywood actor Tom Hanks received the Chaplin award in the presence of celebrity friends on Monday April 27, 2009.
Two-time Oscar winner, Tom Hanks was in high spirits on Monday night in New York City where he was honoured with the Chaplin Award by the Lincoln Center Film Society.
“I don't know what to say, I don't know what superlatives or adjectives to put behind it. Am I thrilled? Yes,” said the overwhelmed writer.
Only 34 Chaplin Awards have been given out since it's inception in 1972.
Hollywood beauty and a friend of the star, Julia Roberts said, “Work with him or watch him, you know, any time you just sort of watch great acting. It teaches you something, for sure.”
Actor Charlize Theron added, “I think he's one of those people who, he loves all the different elements of movie making, and he's really good at so much of it.”
Other celebrities on the red carpet included actress Sally Field, filmmaker Steven Speilberg and actor Adrian Brody.
Tom Hanks played the gracious host, saying, “I hope they're not bored by things. I've asked them to come. That would be bad.”
Meanwhile, in another development, angry Aerosmith fans sued the band after they cancelled a concert in Maui, Hawaii last month.
The class-action suit claimed that the band's late cancellation caused fans to lose money they spent on air tickets, car rentals and hotels.
Now to settle the case, Aerosmith has offered to perform in Maui where ticket holders would receive a free ticket and all out-of-pocket expenses would be reimbursed, regardless of the amount.
The jury is still out on whether Baywatch star Carmen Electra is pregnant. Moving on to some pool fun, the Baywatch lady who turned 37 on April 20, 2009 celebrated it in style with a pool-side party at the MGM Grand in Vegas.
Surprisingly though, the bombshell was dressed modestly in a blue summer dress fuelling rumours about her pregnancy with fiance Rob Patterson's child.
