He was receptive to new ideas and would discuss them in minute detail and was always experimentative. He often used to come up with constructive ideas and suggestions. For instance, during the six years of my involvement with a quasi-government organization, the AP Gas Corporation, where we were independent directors on the board, he would come up with ideas to address operational issues. On several occasions he proposed ideas to reduce costs and created immense shareholder value. He was an active member of FICCI and used to consistently contribute significantly to policy matters. Whenever industry wanted to propose policy changes, he was at hand to offer qualitative inputs. His steerage of Andhra Sugars was steady. The company started with an initial production capacity of 600 MT and went on to increase its capacity to 6,000 MT. Prasad’s vision powered several other companies: Andhra Pharmaceuticals, Andhra Chemicals, Satyanarayana Spinning Mils, Akkamma Textiles Limited and Rangaraya Medical College. On the personal front, he used to interact with everyone in a friendly manner and used to create such an environment around him that all of us would feel comfortable talking to him. It’s a big loss for all of us and this cannot be filled by anyone else. He is survived by his wife Chandramathi, five daughters and three sons. His body is expected to be shifted to his native place Tanuku and the final rites are likely to be performed on Sunday evening.
