‘’Had you taken the corrective measures when we brought out a book, ‘Raja of Corruption’, prior to the 2009 elections, the situation woud not have been what it is today,’’ TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao has told prime minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi.
Nama led a TDPP delegation which handed over a letter written by their party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to the prime minister on Friday.
The six-page letter, according to TDP leaders, contained detailed references to recent scams and corruption cases in the state and elsewhere in the country along with some suggestions for corrective measures.
The suggestions were: Special fast-track courts to deal with corruption cases in a time-bound manner; punishment of the guilty and leaving no scope by government agencies for the guilty to go scot- free; making the CBI autonomous; constitution of a committee to look into the systems evolved and measures taken for checking corruption in countries known to be corruption-free.
Talking with reporters, Nageswara Rao hoped that the government would initiate necessary measures to eradicate corruption from society. He clarified that they did not lodge any complaint against any individual but only urged the government to take action to curb corruption.
The delegation comprised Ramesh Rathode, A Narayana Rao, M Venugopal Reddy, CM Ramesh and G Sudharani
