GANGAVATHI: Belgaum was again in discussion in the inauguration of the 78th Akhil Bharat Kannada Sahitya Sammelan (ABKSS) here. Kannada Sahitya Parishat president (KSP) Nallur Prasad urged the government to take stern action against Belgaum City Corporation Mayor Manda Balekundri for her anti-Kannada stand.“One who lives in Kannada land and enjoys all facilities here should respect this land, and if they don’t they need not remain here,” he said.He referred to another incident reported from Joida in Uttara-Kannada district. “Goa MP Ramakanth Khalap has said that Joida should be merged with Goa. If the government fails to curb such attacks, then there will be no space for Kannadigas in Karnataka,” he added.KDA chairman Mukhy Mantri Chandru said Karnataka never tolerated nuisance created by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) in Belgaum. He urged the government to accept the yellow and red colour flag, as it was the state flag.Sammelan president C P Krishnakumar referred to a poem written by Kaiyyara Kinjanna Rai that says ‘Benki biddide manege’ (house is burning), and said Rai had written it for Kasargod and now it might be considered for Belgaum.
