FA has appointed a three-man panel to find Eriksson's successor as the manager with a brief to report back by the end of the month.

London: Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has told the Football Association that he is against the idea of his successor shadowing England during the World Cup finals.

Eriksson will step down after the World Cup and it has been suggested his replacement could get to know the players by linking up with the squad in Germany.

But the Swede told The Sun on Saturday: "I made it totally clear to the FA I don't want to go into the World Cup with two national coaches. This might be my last World Cup and I want it to be done my way."

Eriksson has also confirmed he will play no part in selecting the next England boss.

"I've told the FA it is totally up to them to find my replacement. The last thing I want is to be accused of helping them find someone who might not be up to the job."

The FA has appointed a three-man panel to find the best man to succeed Eriksson as England manager with a brief to report back by the end of this month.

Dutchman Guus Hiddink, the PSV Eindhoven and Australia coach, is regarded as one of the front-runners with Bolton manager Sam Allardyce regarded as the leading English candidate.

The FA may also consider an approach to former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, who is currently out of football, caring for his sick wife.
