CHITRADURGA: Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje hoped that the commissioning of the second units of Bellary and Udupi Thermal Power Stations would result in production of an additional 1,000 MW power.Addressing the media here on Wednesday, she said: “BHEL, which has taken the contract of developing the unit, has promised to complete work by March next year; with the commissioning of both the units, our power scarcity will come down considerably.” On supply of uninterrupted power to rural areas under the Nirantara Jyoti scheme, she said that the first phase of the project would be completed by June next year in which 70 taluks will be benefited.Refuting allegations that the scheme was not planned properly, she said that the government gave its nod only after its proper perusal.
