The staff of market regulator Sebi has contributed Rs 10.98 lakh to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for flood-hit Uttarakhand. "As a way of contribution to the relief effort for the victims of flood affected areas in Uttarakhand, staff members of Sebi have made a contribution of Rs 10,98,790 towards Prime Minister's National Relief Fund," Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) said in a statement on Thursday.
The regulator said the recent flood in Uttarakhand has severally affected the life and livelihood of lakhs of people in the flood affected areas. "The aftermath situation is very severe which requires enormous relief work," it added.
Over 6,000 people are feared to have been killed in the devastating floods, cloudbursts and landslides in Uttarakhand in June, the government informed the Parliament recently.
