New Delhi: The Supreme Court has granted six-week protection from arrest to Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa in a sexual harassment case.

The court has asked Madurai bench of the Madras High Court to decide her anticipatory bail plea uninfluenced by its order.

The domestic helps, who reportedly worked at Pushpa's house in Tamil Nadu, had filed a complaint to police alleging that Pushpa, her husband Lingeswara Thilakan and son Pradeep Raja had tortured them.

The Tamil Nadu government was earlier restrained by the Delhi High Court from taking any "coercive action".

She was also sacked from AIADMK for 'bringing ill fame to the party'. In an unprecedented incident she had openly attacked AIADMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa saying that only the slaves could survive in that party.
