RBI employees commence a day-long dharna demanding continuation of revised pension scheme and stop job outsourcing.

New Delhi: Office bearers of the United Forum of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officers and employees have commenced their day-long dharna,

They had demanded for a continuation of revised pension scheme and stoppage of job outsourcing from RBI.

The revised pension scheme introduced by RBI could not be withdrawn or adversely modified arbitrarily, Convenor of the Forum K K Sharma said.

The Government has issued an order to withdraw the revised pension scheme in operation in the bank for last few years, he said.

Sharma also demanded upward revision of commutation benefits and improvement in family pension of RBI retirees, which have been pending for a long time.

The United Forum of RBI officers and employees also expressed concern over the proposed formation of a company in private sector, that is the National Payments Corporation of India, to takeover the cheque clearing functions from RBI.

"Outsourcing of jobs from RBI should be stopped," he said and warned that hiving off of clearing operations from RBI is fraught with serious implications.

If all these demands are not met, the leadership of the Forum will meet on June 20 in Mumbai to decide on the future course of action including a strike, he said.
