New Delhi The Narendra Modi government seems to have bowed down to the pressure built up by the protesting Union Public Service Commission Civil Services aspirants as Home Minister Rajanth Singh on Monday said that the Centre will do as much as it can do to resolve the issue.
Singh told a group of aspirants who met him on Monday afternoon that the admit cards issued for the 2014 UPSC Civil Services preliminary examination scheduled on August 24 would be taken back.
"Changes will be brought in the CSAT. The government will do as much as it can," he told a group of five aspirants led by Allahabad University Student Union leader Rana Yashwant. During the meeting on Monday Yashwant and other aspirants put forth all their demands.
"Rajnath Singh has also assured us that the exam will be postponed," Yashwant said.
Singh also assured that justice will be done to aspirants who took the exam in 2011 when the new pattern was introduced. "Students who have taken the exam in 2011 will be given another chance. Justice will be done with them," he reportedly said.
The aspirants have been demanding scrapping of the Civil Service Aptitude Test which they feel is biased towards technical and managerial student. They have been protesting since June 27 and are not ready to give up till all their demands are met.
Earlier in the day, a meeting was called on in the issue which was attended by Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and DoPT Minister Jitendra Singh to resolve the impasse.
