Rajasthan Congress Leader Manvendra Singh Injured In Accident, Wife Dies

Rajasthan Congress leader Manvendra Singh Jasol met with an accident on Tuesday near Khushpuri village on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

He was accompanied by his wife, son, and driver when the driver apparently lost control of the car and it collided with the sidewall of a flyover, quoted news agency, PTI as saying police.

The wife of the former MP, Chitra Singh died in the accident while the senior Congress leader and his 25-year-old son, Hamir were admitted to a hospital with critical injuries, police officials said.

The 59-year-old Congress politician was driving from Delhi to Jaipur with his family when the accident occurred, according to the police, and the injured were “out of danger.” The CCTV cameras in the area were not working on the stretch where the accident happened.

WHO IS MANVENDRA SINGH

Manvendra Singh Jasol is the son of former BJP leader Jaswant Singh Jasol, who held the position of Union finance minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led administration for the previous two years.

Between 2004 to 2009, Manvendra represented Barmer as a Member of Parliament for the BJP. However, he deserted the party prior to the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections.

LEADERS EXPRESSES GRIEF

“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the injury of former Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Shri Manvendra Singh ji and his son and the demise of his wife in a road accident,” said Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Singh.

Expressing grief over Singh’s wife death, former Rajasthan chief minister, Ashok Gehlot posted on microblogging site, X “The news of the demise of Mrs. Chitra Singh, wife of Mr. Manvendra Singh Jasol in a road accident is sad. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and courage to the family.”

“I am shocked by the news of the death of Shri Manvendra Singh Jasol ji’s wife Smt. Chitra Singh ji in a road accident and express my deep condolence,” posted Sachin Pilot on X.
