THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju said that the revised edition of PWD manual has got clearance from the Finance Department and is waiting for Cabinet approval. This is for the first time that PWD is revising the PWD manual, the minister said here on Wednesday. He was speaking at the launch of first phase of e-tendering in PWD. The existing manual was prepared in 1972. Since then, the structure and functioning methodology of the department have undergone major changes. The PWD Manual has been revised considering the relevant Government Orders and departmental circulars and incorporating the innovative reforms and best practices in construction technology. The minister also declared a slew of projects being introduced in the department. ‘’Discussions are in progress to introduce road policy. A committee has been constituted to formulate a draft road policy. Thrust will be given on introducing methods to reduce road accidents,’’ he said.
