Pune: woman raped by colleague at birthday party
The woman has accused two men of raping her in a hotel after locking her 4-year-old son in a different room.

Pune: A 28-year-old CNC operator has filed a case of rape against her colleague and his friend. The incident took place on March 6 at a hotel on the Pune-Satara Road where the accused had called the victim for dinner, saying he wanted to celebrate his birthday.

The victim, who is married, took along her four-year-old son to the dinner. The accused allegedly forced the victim to enter one of the hotel rooms after dinner and sexually exploited her while her son was kept locked in a different room.

The police booked Rajendra Shivram Chavan and Mainuddin Shamsuddin Panwala, both residents of Mangadewadi, for rape and wrongfully restraining the victim in the hotel room. According to the police, both the victim and Chavan work in an engineering firm.

Death threats

Chavan and Panwala allegedly kept issuing threats to the victim to keep her from lodging a police complaint.

According to the Bharati Vidyapeeth police, the accused even threatened to kill the victim's son and husband if she lodged a complaint.

"The victim has told us that she was being threatened repeatedly by this duo and that is why she delayed lodging a complaint against them," Police Inspector Nagnath Wakude said. "Finally, unable to bear the pressure, she narrated the episode to her husband, who encouraged her to lodge a police complaint."

The police said on Thursday Chavan and Panwala were yet to be arrested.
