Bollywood star Anil Kapoor and his elder daughter, actress Sonam Kapoor made headlines recently for attending the seventh edition of Ariel’s iconic movements #sharetheload event. In this event, Anil Kapoor opened up on how his wife, designer Sunita Kapoor supported her financially during challenging times. Anil Kapoor said, “In my life, when I first met Sunita, 50 years ago… When I met her, obviously I was not doing very well financially. She would take care of a lot of things, and that’s how we shared the load. She stepped forward to share the load where money was concerned. It’s not only about doing household jobs.” Anil Kapoor added that he couldn’t afford many small things like travelling or dining in a restaurant when he was struggling. But he didn’t have to even tell Sunita about it. She would help without having to ask for it.
Anil Kapoor and Sunita’s love story is an interesting one. When Anil Kapoor was new in the industry, he would spend his evenings with his friends from the industry. They would talk about their future in films and pull each other’s legs. On one such evening, one of his friends gave him Sunita’s number to prank call her. She was a successful model back then. After being persuaded by his friends, the 67-year-old actor called Sunita and immediately fell in love with her voice. It was much later that they met each other in person at a common friend’s party, and both realised that they had found their perfect soulmates in each other.
The duo got married on May 19, 1984, and the couple was blessed with three children, Sonam Kapoor (born in 1985), Rhea Kapoor (born in 1987), and Harshvardhan Kapoor (born in 1990). Interestingly, all three children have followed in their parent’s footsteps and have entered the film industry in one way or the other. While Sonam and Harsh are actors, Rhea is a filmmaker and producer.
