CHENNAI: An engineer of the Chennai Port Trust was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute at Thirumullaivoyal on Tuesday.
Sources said there were frequent disputes between Mahadevan, a resident of Thirukural Street in Sivasakthi Nagar, and his wife Shyamala (34). Hence, Mahadevan, an engineer at the harbour, started living on the ground floor and his wife on the first floor. Still, the quarrels continued and recently Mahadevan assaulted his wife with a wooden log. The injured Shyamala lodged a complaint with the Thirumullaivoyal police, who arrested the engineer.

Isai Saraswathy was a resident of Rajarathinam Nagar and her father Kalaiselvam was an auto driver. She came home late from school and her mother Kalaiarasi scolded her, sources said. When Kalaiarasi went out and returned home, she found her daughter hanging in the house.
