BANGALORE: “In order to come out of political crisis and for administrative reforms, public representatives should cultivate the habit of reading books,” opined Prof D Javaregowda, Kannada litterateur and former vicechancellor of University of Mysore.Speaking at the launch of C V G India bookstore and release of 108 books, in memory of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, Javaregowda advised politicians to read books to inculcate values and principles.“I had advised some politicians to read books but they expressed their inability do so, due to paucity of time.” Home and Transport Minister R Ashok said, “Bangaloreans should encourage people from other states to learn Kannada.Rather than complaining, why don’t we teach them Kannada and show love towards the language and our culture?,” he questioned.“We all talk so much about literature, but no international airport has been named after any literary person,” said M P Veerendrakumar, chairman and Managing editor of Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi.
