The people of southern districts have embarked on a postcard cam paign wherein they will send a letter to the Russian Embassy in New Delhi for a copy of the Indo-Russian Inter-governmental Agreement (IGA) on the nuke liability of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) units 1 and 2, informed the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE).
The struggle committee of the PMANE said as part of the ‘Hiroshima Day’, the people of southern districts have launched a postcard campaign to the Russian Embassy in New Delhi demanding a copy of the Indo-Russian Inter-governmental Agreement (IGA) signed secretly by New Delhi and Moscow in 2008 pertaining to the nuke liability of KKNPP units 1 and 2.
We, as Indian citizens, have been asking the Indian government for a copy of the 2008 Indo-Russian agreement for over two years. Since there is no response from the government, we have decided to ask the Russian Embassy for a copy of the 2008 IGA on nuke liability. People from southern TN will be sending a terse postcard to the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.”
The PMANE has requested Indians all over the world to write to Russian embassies in their national capitals.
