KOCHI: The All-India Lawyers Union (AILU) has urged the government to conduct an inquiry into the mysterious death of Alappuzha district Judge Baburaj. The state committee meeting of the union passed a resolution stating that it was essential to clear the mystery behind the death of a person who was holding a key position in the judicial system.
Those who attended the meeting condemned the police atrocities against journalists in Thiruvananthapuram the other day."The freedom of the media should be protected to strengthen democracy," the meeting observed.

The union also demanded the Bar Council of India to withdraw the decision to conduct a qualifying examination for advocates after enrollment. AILU president advocate C P Sudhakara Prasad presided over the meeting.
